4.1.3 MAX5134 DAC (Code Generator)

The MAX5134 DAC control section allows users to send a single DAC

value for a DC output or to pick from a few basic waveforms. Signal

levels are set in DAC codes (range of 0 to 65535) and are sent to all

four DAC outputs. See the table in the Analog Signal Connections

section for respective output signal levels.

Note that the USB overhead encountered in the USB2PMB1 board

(through use of FTDI chipset’s software device driver) will throttle

throughput from the PC to the MAX5134 quad-

DAC device (when

generating waveform signals) to approximately 2.6K DAC sampling

points per second. Refer to

reference design using a Xilinx development kit.
